OH! The alliteration!
I figured I should at least mark the Blizzard of 2010 with some kind of note. Truthfully, it ended up fairly un-noteworthy in these here parts. We were told 12 to 18 with the strong implication they were low-balling that estimate. In the end, I’ll say we got about 8 and I think I’m being a bit generous.
Last year’s big December “Winter Storm” dumped about 14″ or so on us, but the “Blizzard” dumped considerably less. I will say that it seemed to live up to it’s billing as a technical blizzard- we had the high winds and minimal visibility associated with the term. But, at least here, it didn’t live up to the spirit of the term. It certainly was no Blizzard of ’78. Seems like further South and West got the more impressive amounts. Go figure.

It would seem that the ‘blizzard’ came in another form … at least to your house! Be glad there was only 8 +/- …. clearing up more snow, would have been an additional challenge on top of all the germs !!
I have to laugh, watching the news, you would thing the Apocolypse was upon New York City…I actually saw a reporter for the Today Show try to garner AWE because the wind had drifted the snow up to the bumper of a Police Car!!! Imagine that travesty and the number of EMT personnel it would take to get that car out of a predicament like that…OMG, WTF, HS, and every other capital letter shorthand for STFU people, just because you are the largest media market in the world, does NOT mean that you get everything worse than everyone else. A drift to the bumper of a Crown Vic is about two feet, and I am being generous…talk to people that get twice that, TWICE in four days last year!
I love the media, they need a story, so they make one up. Today, I bet all the snow in NYC is gone…it took two months before the snow was gone in Baltimore last year. It was so bad, I moved to Los Angeles…now there is a news story…cause and effect…beginning and ending, not, we got a blizzard, OMG, please, send the National Guard in…
The funny thing is that a “blizzard” has nothing to do with snow, it is all wind related. You can have a blizzard and get a half inch of snow, these facts get left out of the story when NYC gets 6 inches of snow, but tries to make it seem like they got 36″ with drifts tall enough to gag King Kong.
Needless to say, glad you guys didn’t get hit by snow too bad, sounds like you had enough stuff blowing over the weekend to keep you busy inside, our outside your insides, or however you want to describe it.
