Well, technically it wasn’t a blizzard for us. There wasn’t enough sustained wind where we are; however, there was plenty of snow:
That’s actually pretty representative of our yard- about 14″. When I first saw it this morning, my first though was “That’s a distortion.” I went and looked at the front walk and it didn’t look like there was that much snow. It wasn’t until the wife went out with a tape measure that I found out that the front walk was just as buried as the back.
I’ve plowed the driveway and shoveled off the deck, which was tiring enough. Aftwerwards, I helped the boy make a snow fort. When I shovel off the deck, I throw all the snow into a pile on the ground. I do this deliberately so the kids can make a snow fort even if we only end up with 6″ of snow. With all the snow today, we made a tunnel that’s about 20 feet long. The one end is actually on a hill, so they can slide down into the tunnel and then climb out the other side. I ended up doing most of the digging. The boy tried to help, but he has a tough time digging into the snow. Truth be told, I also think he waits for me to do it. Since I want him to have a good time, I did it for him in the hope that he’d learn and want to do it himself next time. Besides, it’s not like he was just sitting there watching me do the work.
The dogs enjoyed the snow as well. They LOVE chasing snowballs. They’re exhausted now. As am I. No woodworking today- hopefully a nap.
