We Are Mobile Enabled

None too late, I finally took the time to setup a mobile version of the site this morning. Thanks to the WPTouch WordPress plugin, it was a painless operation.

I’d been looking for awhile for a way to give the site a mobile version, WPTouch hit my main desires the best. I didn’t want a separate mobile site, it needed to be as simple as possible (but no simpler) for configuration, the site itself should be minimalistic for ease of loading and there should be a reasonable upgrade path if my desires grow going forward.

If you don’t like the mobile look or just prefer the desktop site’s look, there should be a switch at the bottom of the page to turn off the mobile site for your device.

Also, use the Menu button in the header to navigate to other pages or to check out site categories or site tags.

Feel free to comment on it with suggestions and impressions.

You are right, simple and looks great…also very easy to navigate. It comes up great on the iPhone in both the Safari and Chrome browsers, and I like the little red number alerts to the amount of comments for each post. It is a cool advancement to the overall structure of the blog.

I am telling you though…you need to spend a little time and get this thing tied into Twitter, so at least there is a tweet sent out when you create a new post. It will drive you to a new and bigger audience.

Couple thoughts on that…Twitter is best used to “drive” people to your content and to get quick little blurbs to a greater topic, concept or product…it also is great for musings and such, that may not yet be worth of a full post. So you can essentially develop a little more of your brand with it.

If you are going to use Facebook, I would open a “FanPage” for SAHD and not link this to your personal Facebook page. Keep your personal Facebook page personal and use the FanPage as a public link to this page, being your main product. You can also link a Twitter handle to your Facebook page and to this one, so essentially, all three will be pushing different forms of the same content over three mediums.

They work together pretty well, hand in hand at least, you would just have to get your SAHD site component talking to the other two. Which, with some messing around, I am sure you would be able to do pretty quickly. If you go this route, make sure you match up the visual themes for the three sites, it will keep everything connected too.
